FRSI, the Polish project coordinator, is presenting a report on adult education in five countries where the Learning Circles in Libraries project is implemented: Finland, Germany, Poland, Portugal and Romania. The report contains an analysis of the state of adult education in those countries, with special emphasis on online learning.
The proposed Learning Circle is a group of people who meet face-to-face to learn something together. Every Learning Circle has a facilitator, who help to organize meetings and create an atmosphere of peer-to-peer learning. Facilitators do not need to be subject experts; the expertise comes from the online course and the community of learners.
Theoretical framework of specifics of adult online learning and overview of practical ideas from several European library systems are very useful for the FINLIT project and its educational approach to this target group.
